There's a Possum in My Bough
by Barry Wright
This book is an attempt to give the reader some idea of the ecology of a forest.
The story is about a possum group living near the Murray River and most of the animal and bird behaviour I have witnessed first hand.
The two trees in the story do exist, on the junction of the Murray and Murrumbidgee Rivers.
The tree telling the story is 400 years old and has witnessed many changes including Captain Sturt's journey, the overlanders and the paddle steamers.
The story is aimed at eight to twelve year olds and the book is 24 pages.
